Type Ii Supernovae at High Redshifts

چکیده
A hydro code coupled with radiation transfer was applied to produce monochromatic light curves of two models of type II supernovae (SN II) simulating SN II-P and SN IIb (SN 1993J-like). We then used these template light curves to evaluate the possibility of detecting SNe II at different redshifts. With a 5 hour exposure at VLT/FORS the SN II-P model may be detected at z = 1. However, since our model of SN II-P is underluminous at early phase (t < 10 days) by ≈ 1.5 mag a detection at z = 2 is quite plausible. SN IIb can be detected as far as at z = 4. For 100% detection efficiency up to z = 2 one expects to find roughly 1 SN II yr arcmin.

High Redshift Supernovae in the Hubble Deep Field
Two supernovae detected in the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) using the original December 1995 epoch and data from a shorter (63000 s in F814W) December 1997 visit with HST are discussed. The supernovae (SNe) are both associated with distinct galaxies at redshifts of 0.95 (spectroscopic) from Cohen et al. (1996) and 1.32 (photometric) from the work of Fernández-Soto, Lanzetta, & Yahil (1998). These re...
متن کاملOn the Evolution of the Cosmic Supernova Rates
Ongoing searches for supernovae (SNe) at cosmological distances have recently started to provide a link between SN Ia statistics and galaxy evolution. We use recent estimates of the global history of star formation to compute the theoretical Type Ia and Type II SN rates as a function of cosmic time from the present epoch to high redshifts. We show that accurate measurements of the frequency of ...
متن کاملWhat Can We Learn from Type I/ii Supernovae Rates at High
We show how Type Ia/II supernova rates at various redshifts can be used to follow the cosmic star formation rate (CSFR) history. Using the recent estimate of the Cosmic Star Formation (CSFR), we compute the predicted cosmic Type Ia/II supernovae rates. We show that while SNII rates provide a direct measurement of the instantaneous CSFR, the SNIa rate depends on the past history of the CSFR. Thi...
متن کاملA Type Ii Supernova Hubble Diagram from the Csp-i, Sdss-ii and Snls Surveys.*
The coming era of large photometric wide-field surveys will increase the detection rate of supernovae by orders of magnitude. Such numbers will restrict spectroscopic follow-up in the vast majority of cases, and hence new methods based solely on photometric data must be developed. Here, we construct a complete Hubble diagram of Type II supernovae combining data from three different samples: the...
متن کاملK CORRECTIONS FOR TYPE IA SUPERNOVAE AND A TEST FOR SPATIAL VARIATION OF THE HUBBLE CONSTANT The Supernova Cosmology Project: II
Cross-filter K corrections for a sample of “normal” Type Ia supernovae (SNe) have been calculated for a range of epochs. With appropriate filter choices, the combined statistical and systematic K correction dispersion of the full sample lies within 0.05 mag for redshifts z < 0.7. This narrow dispersion of the calculated K correction allows the Type Ia to be used as a cosmological probe. We use ...
